It is a versatile electronic device that combines the functions of several tools into one, primarily a voltmeter, ammeter, and ohmmeter.

Key Functions and Measurements

A digital multimeter can measure a variety of electrical properties. The most common ones include:

• Voltage (Volts): Measures the electrical potential difference between two points in a circuit. You can measure both AC (Alternating Current, symbolized by ~V) and DC (Direct Current, symbolized by V with a solid line and a dotted line).
• Current (Amps): Measures the flow of electrical current. This is typically measured in series with the circuit. You can measure both AC and DC current.
• Resistance (Ohms): Measures the opposition to the flow of current. It is used to test components like resistors and to check for short circuits or open circuits.
